About

Your reliable partner in extending tubular service life

PETRELL supplies technologies that extend the service life of production tubing (OCTG) in challenging well operating conditions:

  • corrosive environments (H₂S, CO₂)
  • high temperatures and pressures
  • mechanical wear, ARPD and scale deposits

We help oil and gas companies reduce the risk of tubing string failures and optimise well operating costs

20+ years of engineering practice in oil production
15+ years of experience in OCTG tubular integrity management
> 2500 days average tubing run life to failure in H₂S/CO₂ environments
1000+ wells where PETRELL solutions are applied

Tubing protection technologies

Polymer anti-corrosion coatings

Technology description

EMEpow and HPC series internal polymer coatings protect tubing from corrosion, mechanical and abrasive wear, reduce deposit build-up and hydraulic flow resistance. Coatings can extend tubing service life by 3–5 times. In wells with artificial lift, coatings can be applied together with sucker-rod centralisers to reduce tubing wear. Coating materials are supplied by PETRELL and applied at partners’ certified production facilities. The PETRELL team has hands-on experience running coated tubing and accounts for the risk of coating damage during tripping operations

Applied in conditions of:
  • high concentrations of CO₂ and H₂S
  • operating temperatures above 100 °C
  • ARPD and scale formation
  • mechanical and abrasive impact

M2 series modified connection

Technology description

The patented M2 series connection is a modification of standard API/GOST threaded connections (8/10 threads) for tubing, including pipe with internal coatings and fibreglass liners. The design protects the pin ends and the make-up gap area from corrosion, abrasive wear and flow erosion, and preserves the integrity of the internal coating within the connection zone. A barrier polymer ring (PTFE/UHMWPE) is installed inside the coupling; during make-up it provides a leak-tight connection and stable torque control, reducing the risk of thread galling. The ring is installed at the manufacturing stage and does not require replacement at the wellsite. The connection allows repeated make-up and break-out

Applied in conditions of:
  • high flow rates
  • aggressive environments (H₂S / CO₂)
  • elevated pressures and temperatures
  • cyclic loads

ProLiner internal lining technology

Technology description

The ProLiner system protects tubing and casing from internal corrosion and heat loss in aggressive environments and high-temperature wells. The technology is effective for offshore projects, geothermal wells and extending the life of existing tubular stock. A liner made of glass-reinforced epoxy (GRE) composite is installed inside the steel pipe, and the annular space is filled with a special cement compound for reliable fixation and protection of the structure. The system is rated for operating temperatures up to 130 °C and working pressure up to the pipe yield strength. Lining can be performed at production facilities or near the field, allowing used pipe to be reconditioned and reused

Advantages:
  • an alternative to corrosion-resistant alloy (CRA) pipe
  • eliminates the use of corrosion and paraffin inhibitors
  • reduces well workover costs
  • enables reuse of used pipe stock

How we work

We apply an engineering methodology for tubular life-cycle management that identifies the causes of tubing failure and selects the most effective solution for the specific operating conditions

  1. Analysis of well operating conditions

  2. Determination of the tubing failure mechanism

  3. Selection of the protection technology

  4. Deployment and performance monitoring

This approach increases the run life of wells and optimises the operating costs of the tubular stock

Experience and expertise

PETRELL combines engineering analysis of well operating conditions with modern tubing protection technologies. Our experience allows us to select and deploy solutions aimed at extending tubing service life and reducing well failure rates

Scale of technology deployment

More than 7.5 million linear metres of tubing have been protected using EMEpow (Integritas Paint) and HPC (PETRELL) series internal polymer coatings. In Russia, more than 350,000 linear metres of tubing are in service with the EMEpow 5221 + EMEprimer 5101 internal coating system, which meets Rosneft PJSC requirements for Type 3 coatings

Real deployment results

Deployment of an integrated solution (wear-resistant internal coating, installation of sucker-rod centralisers and the M2 series modified connection) at fields in Azerbaijan increased the run life of wells by more than 6 times. On projects in Egypt, ProLiner tubing lining technology was used as a cost-effective alternative to 13% Cr corrosion-resistant alloy pipe, reducing the capital and operating costs of well operation
